Bill Murray’s House In Zombieland: Then And Now

If you haven’t seen the 2009 movie ‘Zombieland‘, then it’s probably about time you did! Throughout the movie the three main cast members, Emma Stone, Woody Harrelson, and Jesse Eisenberg move from location to location, avoiding an onslaught of zombies. Eventually stumbling upon Bill Murray’s house!

Anyone who has seen the movie will definitely remember Bill Murray’s house. The incredible mansion looks like a Beverly Hills home+ that a movie star would live in, it’s not actually Bill Murray’s house, and the property is not actually located in California!

THE HISTORY OF BILL MURRAY’S HOUSE IN ZOMBIELAND

The house didn’t have much history prior to featuring in Zombieland, mainly because the property was only built the year before the movie was released.

Located on 490 W Paces Ferry Road NW in the Buckhead neighborhood in Atlanta, Georgia, and not California as you might have assumed, Bill Murray’s mansion in Zombieland is a Mediterranean-Style property that wouldn’t look out of place in Beverly Hills.

The 33,000 square-foot megamansion includes nine bedrooms, seven full kitchens, two gyms, a wellness center, a cigar room, a ballroom, and 12 bathrooms.

THE HOUSE IN THE MOVIE

During the movie, we get to see many rooms throughout the home, although nowhere near the full extent of this incredible property.

The foyer, featuring the main staircase (there are two in the property), is the first room we see in the film. This room hasn’t changed at all in more than a decade as you will see later in this post. With the same red carpet and the same rugs are all in the same place,

One of the seven full kitchens this property has, it’s not actually the largest in the house. However, like the entrance, not much has changed, as you will see later.

THE HOUSE TODAY

While the property did look large in the movie, the true extent of this huge home was never really revealed. The Mediterranean-style property does feature 12-bedrooms and 7 full kitchens, as already mentioned, but it also features a large swimming pool, pool house, guest house, and 2 acres of land.

In 2010, after Zombieland had filmed at the home, the property went on on the market for $22.5 million. At one time the property was owned by Real Housewives of Atlanta’s Kim Zolciak’s former boyfriend, real estate mogul Lee Najjar. His son and daughter showed off the home on MTV’s Teen Cribs.

The house also appeared on-screen again in another movie, the 2012 version of ‘The Three Stooges’. In 2021 the house went back on the market for $10.9 million. A huge drop in price from the 2010 value which was as high as $22.5 million

As you can see from these latest photos, the foyer and staircase haven’t actually changed much since the filming of Zombieland over 10 years earlier.

The foyer from a different angle, with the same rugs and furniture as seen in the Zombieland movie.

This is the kitchen that appeared in the movie during a scene with Woody Harrelson and Emma Stone. Why they chose to film in this kitchen rather than the largest one I’m not sure. Either way, it hasn’t changed at all over the years since the movie was filmed.

Another of the kitchens in the property, this one much larger than the one that appeared on-screen in Zombieland.

An incredible-looking room to get your work done, the office is larger than most people’s living rooms. When you’re not working you’ve also got a cinema room, games room, gym and bar to enjoy.

One of the nine bedrooms found inside the property, however, none of these actually appeared on-screen in the movie.

The outside of this property is where you would want to spend most of your time. Numerous outdoor living areas, as well as an outdoor pool and basketball court, should keep you occupied for some time.
